CENTRAL GREECE MOTORWAY (Ε65) – XYNIADA – TRIKALA SECTION
The project concerns the construction of the central section of the Central Greece Motorway, of 80 km total length.
The section Xyniada – Trikala has all the features of a modern, safe motorway. With two traffic lanes and emergnecy lane per direction, among its most important technical details are:
- 2 twin tunnels with a total length of approximately 1 km
- 8 bridges
- 19 upper passes and 23 lower passes
- 4 dual-carriageway parking and rest areas and 2 single-sided ones
- 5 grade-separated interchanges and 2 half interchanges
- 1 dual-sided motorway service area
- 2 mainline toll stations and 3 side toll stations
- 1 traffic management centre
- 1 traffic police building
- 1 maintenance control centre
- 1 fire brigade building
- 1 tunnel service building
- 140 drains
The Central Greeve Motorway (E65) includes the completion of the construction of two additional parts:
A) South Section: 0 km to 32 km
The section from this starts with the connection with the ATHE motorway. after the Thermopylae Motorway and reaches Xyniada.
B) North Section: 111 km to the end of Project
This section starts from Trikala and reaches the end of the E65, ie the union with Egnatia Odos in the wider area west of Grevena.
Upon completion its total length will be 174 km.
The concession contract to build and operate the Central Greece Motorway was awarded to GEK TERNA Group.
