The E65 motorway, currently under construction by TERNA, has a total length of 182.1 km and is one of the most important national infrastructure projects, with an overall budget of approximately €1.4 billion. It has the required capacity of a modern motorway, featuring two (2) traffic lanes per direction plus an Emergency Lane, and is being constructed entirely along a new route, connecting Eastern and Western Greece.

With the delivery of new sections of E65 in April 2024, 136 km of a modern, safe motorway are now in operation, from the interchange with the A.T.H.E. motorway (206.5 km) up to the Kalambaka Interchange. Key tourist destinations such as Meteora, Lake Plastira, Karpenisi, and Trikala are now easily, quickly, and safely accessible, while the central region of the country is expected to gain new development momentum.

Currently under construction by TERNA are the final 46 km of the motorway, located in the Northern Section, which starts at the Kalambaka Interchange and extends to the Egnatia Odos west of Grevena.

As of March 2025, overall construction progress on the northern section stands at 72.77%.
